Tiger HAP helicopter in Afghanistan, year 2010.
The Italeri 1:48 scale model is extremely basic, representing a pre-production version of the French combat helicopter.
A great deal of detailed work is required to obtain a production aircraft. First of all, all the rivets have to be removed and the fuselage engraving lines redone. The cockpit, including the seats, had to be completely overhauled in plastic card. The gun turret was also created. Fortunately, the book dedicated to the Tiger published by Editions Cocardes facilitated the many months needed to finalize this project. The reproduction of the rivet lines was planned, but I didn’t have the courage to go through with it, so this project, which I thought I’d finish in a few months, took me a whole year.
It’s worth noting that the French Tigers don’t wear any nationality markings, but I had to reproduce the three identification letters that appear to be different on each aircraft. This marking was made using letters from a dry transfer board.
The excellent figures are from Reedoak.
